Takeoff’s Mother Sues Owners Of The Property Where The Rapper Was Killed

Takeoff’s mother, Titania Davenport, is suing the proprietors of 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston for wrongful death due to her son’s tragic shooting death.

The lawsuit claims, among other things, that the venue was negligent because it did not offer sufficient security personnel and warnings of known hazards on the premises. The suit alleges that there was insufficient security at the private party where Takeoff was tragically shot, despite the presence of high-profile celebrities.

Davenport files a lawsuit in Texas state court for damages related to physical pain, emotional distress, financial losses, and wrongful death.

Takeoff’s death complaint does not name J. Prince or any other suspects, but it states that “the facility and premises were rented by a well-known music personality” — the family of Rap-A-Lot CEO J. Prince — and that there would be a gathering “‘after hours’ and with potentially many artistes, popular athletes and public figures.

“Despite these facts, Defendants provided no screening mechanisms, no after-hour controls or security measures, and no enforcement of rules or industry standards to deter crime against their invitees, to include [Takeoff],” the lawsuit states.

Migos rapper Takeoff was shot and killed during a party in Nov. 2022 at the age of 28.

A grand jury indicted Patrick Xavier Clark, the man accused of killing Takeoff, for murder in May. Police arrested Clark in December 2022. He was released on bail in January.

Musicians and listeners alike are mourning the death of Takeoff. Famous songs by the group he was part of include “Bad and Boujee” and “Versace,” and Takeoff will always be remembered for his role in the group’s popularity.

Takeoff’s death was tragic, but he left an indelible mark on the hip-hop community and the world through his songs.
