Takoradi: 9 Fishermen Go Missing At Sea

According to a sad report we sighted on Adomonline, a canoe and its nine crew members have gone missing on rough seas in Takoradi, a coastal district in the Western region, leaving other fishermen in fear.

The report states that on June 27, 2023, the crew members set sail, but have still not returned. The fisherman reportedly lost contact with their teammates soon after heading out to sea. The nine crew members’ loved ones are concerned because none of them have been located.

The boat’s owner, Kwame Tawiah, told the reporters that the crew had left the Ngyirasia fishing harbour for the Half Assini region but hadn’t come back. He continued by saying they had contacted the police for help and were hopeful the team would show up shortly.

Mr Tawiah also disclosed that the missing crew made a brief phone call to him on July 7 morning, saying they were all still alive but the boat was out of fuel. However, their phone quickly rang, and it is currently unknown where they are.

Six other boats have been sent to look for the missing crew members, and MTN has been notified to help track their last location. The situation remains tense, and the search for the missing fishermen continues.
