Tamale: Police, Youth Exchange Gunshots In Court

A flick out of Hollywood was enacted at Tamale when a marauding youth stormed a circuit court and exchanged gunshots with the police, leaving three people critically wounded.

Amidst the tumultuous proceedings of the court trial of a man purportedly identified as a drug supplier, gunshots were fired. As a result, two individuals were injured, with one of them being immediately transported to the Tamale Regional Hospital.

The injured individual is currently undergoing treatment in the operating theater. The second victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh, is being prepared for transfer to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Ghanaian journalist and broadcaster Bridget Otoo shared a video of the incident, as narrated by Metro TV, on her Twitter page.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police have updated the general public on the incident on their official Twitter platform, revealing that scores of the alleged perpetrators have been arrested in connection with the unfortunate incident.

Previously, a female individual who had also suffered leg injuries was transferred to the teaching hospital. There have been contradictory accounts regarding the cause of the occurrence that led to the discharge of firearms by law enforcement. In the interim, authorities have apprehended 13 individuals implicated in the event.
