In connection with the abysmal performance of teachers in the teacher licensure exams which saw over 80% of the 7728 teachers failing, a leaked paper of one of the teachers to substantiate the report has been leaked online.
Tru News Report mentioned that Only 1,277 of the 7,728 would-be teachers who took this year’s licence exam in May were qualified.
A total of 6,481 teachers got failing grades. This percentage shows the number of individuals who retook the exam to become certified teachers. All of the applicants had taken the test many times, with some taking it as many as nine times, according to Dr Christian Addai-Poku, Registrar of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
On this score, the former Ghana Education Service director general expressed his displeasure with the number of failures. A wage cut was suggested by the former DG for exam failures twice. His plan, in his opinion, would compel teachers to treat the tests seriously.

Educators who witnessed the widespread failure accused the National Teachers Council of purposefully underperforming the candidates. Some people said that the National Teachers Council treated the licensing test like a cash cow.
However, the NTC has maintained its original justification, which was that the professors who authored the re-sit performed appallingly. Someone from the NTC leaked a sample of the exam paper to demonstrate that the mass failure was the result of subpar performance. It depicts a teacher responding to a query that highlights an issue in one’s neighbourhood.
