They Think My Family Grow Money On Trees – Alaba’s Sister, Rose May
Rose May, a singer and sister of Austrian footballer David Alaba, has emphasized that despite her privileged upbringing, she works tirelessly to achieve her goals.
She said unfortunately, one of the challenges she faces is the misconception that her affluent background exempts her from the need to work.
May expressed that due to her surname Alaba, which is synonymous with her brother’s success, people often assume that wealth comes effortlessly to her. Consequently, her own talent and dedication as a musician are sometimes overlooked.
In a recent interview with 88.5 UFM, the singer lamented the challenge of encountering people who truly support her vision, regardless of her family background.
She said; “To be honest, the hustle is real. Everybody wants to make money. And I feel like once people hear my last name because it’s connected to a big soccer player which is my brother [David Alaba], they see us as a bank. They think we grow money on trees. But that is not the case.
“It’s hard to find genuine people who see the vision. And I feel like you always have to believe in yourself first for them to actually help you.”
Rose’s brother David Alaba is an Austrian professional player who currently represents La Liga club Real Madrid as a centre-back or left-back.
Additionally, he serves as the captain of the Austria national team. Widely regarded as one of the top defenders globally, Alaba is highly praised for his adaptability, technical prowess, and ability to excel in both defensive and offensive roles on the field.
Alaba’s journey began in Bayern’s youth system, and he was subsequently promoted to the reserve team for the 2009-2010 season. Following this, he embarked on a loan spell with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim until the conclusion of the 2010-2011 season.
Alaba returned to Bayern at the commencement of the 2011-2012 season, solidifying his position as a regular member of the first-team squad.
Throughout his tenure at Bayern Munich, Alaba amassed over 400 appearances, securing an impressive 27 honors, including ten Bundesliga titles and two UEFA Champions League titles in 2013 and 2020, both as part of treble-winning campaigns.
Notably, he was selected for the UEFA Team of the Year on three occasions during his time in Germany. In 2021, Alaba made a significant move to Real Madrid, where he achieved immediate success by clinching the 2021-2022 La Liga, Supercopa, and Champions League titles in his debut season.
