This is The Godfather- Busta Rhymes Praises Slick Rick During Grammy Honour

Slick Rick received kind words from Busta Rhymes this week during a Grammy ceremony before receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award.

In honour of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and Slick Rick’s recognition, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) held a pre-Grammy event on Friday, February 3, prior to the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

Busta Rhymes urged the crowd to recognize how important the occasion was for the culture while posing alongside the illustrious British MC.

“This the Godfather,” Busta said as Slick Rick locked on. “Lifetime Achievement Grammy, the win is secured. Say that shit in unison.”

The Recording Academy announced its list of Special Merit Awards honorees on January 5; they were scheduled to receive their awards during a different Grammy Week celebration that also occurred on Friday.

Slick Rick shared the stage with Bobby McFerrin, Nirvana, Ma Rainey, Nile Rodgers, The Supremes, and Ann and Nancy Wilson of the band Heart to receive a 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award.
