Former US president, Donald Trump is currently selling Bibles while campaigning to reclaim the presidency.
Trump, who recently secured the Republican nomination, posted a video on his Truth Social platform encouraging his followers to purchase the “God Bless the USA Bible”, which is based on the patriotic song by country singer Lee Greenwood.
Trump frequently enters the stage to this song during his rallies and has made appearances alongside Greenwood at various events.
“Happy Holy Week! Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless the USA Bible,” Mr Trump wrote, directing his supporters to a website selling the book for 60 dollars.
While grappling with four criminal indictments and a string of civil charges, Mr Trump has found himself in a dire financial situation.
However, a glimmer of hope emerged on Monday as a New York appeals court granted him temporary relief from paying the hefty sum of over 454million dollars resulting from a civil fraud judgment. This respite is contingent upon Mr Trump promptly providing 175 million dollars within the next 10 days.
Furthermore, Mr Trump has already fulfilled a 92 million dollar bond requirement about the defamation lawsuits filed against him by writer E Jean Carroll, who has accused him of sexual assault.
“All Americans need a Bible in their home, and I have many. It’s my favourite book,” Mr Trump said in the video posted on Truth Social.
“I’m proud to endorse and encourage you to get this Bible. We must make America pray again.”
Billing itself as “the only Bible endorsed by President Trump!” the new venture’s website calls it “Easy-to-read” with “large print” and a “slim design” that “invites you to explore God’s Word anywhere, any time”.
Mr. Trump has been involved in various commercial ventures, with the Bible being the most recent addition during his campaign.
