We Paid $750 To GRW-Afua Asantewaa Gives New Update About Her Sing-A-Thon
In a recent interview, Afua Asantewaa revealed that she and her team have invested in a priority review for her sing-a-thon. According to her, this special review costs $750 and will be completed within 1–5 days, unlike the standard review that typically takes 12 weeks.
This update comes as a response to numerous inquiries from Ghanaians on social media regarding the delay in processing her evidence for the prestigious title of the individual with the longest singing marathon.
“Because of the popularity of the event, they requested our files. After two weeks of waiting, we requested a priority review. The normal review takes not less or more than 12 weeks. But if you want it quick, you pay an amount of money and they review your file within five working days.
So that’s what we paid for. Officially, it’s $650 but when you are going to pay, you’ll need to pay some transaction fee so we did roughly $750,” she said in an interview with Accra-based Joy News.
In an interview with Joy News, Afua Asantewaa mentioned that she has paid $750 to Guinness World Records to speed up the review process, reducing it to a timeframe of 1-5 days instead of the standard 12-week duration. pic.twitter.com/40ENdWUPb9

Afua Asantewaa surpassed the previous record holder by breaking the longest singing marathon by an individual, surpassing the 105-hour mark by clocking 126 hours and 52 minutes.
This remarkable achievement was accomplished through a five-day event that commenced precisely at midnight on Sunday, December 24th and concluded on December 29th, 2023.
Afua views this as a wonderful opportunity to showcase exceptional Ghanaian music to the world. She has committed to exclusively performing local music throughout her record-breaking attempt.
Her sing-a-thon event garnered immense support from thousands of music enthusiasts and well-wishers, including mainstream celebrities in Ghana, who gathered at Akwaaba Village to show solidarity and witness this historic moment.
As part of the evidence, Miss Asantewaa mentioned that she is required to document all her practice sessions, preparations, and interviews, which will be included in the final video of her attempt.
