A report from Citi News, corroborated by other mainstream news outlets, states that a Ghana Air Force helicopter has crashed in Bonsokrom, situated in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.
Witnesses interviewed by Citi News mentioned that the helicopter, currently restricted from public entry by Air Force officials, was said to be transporting 21 people, including employees from the petroleum sector regulatory bodies.
Additional information Tru News Report from other sources revealed the helicopter made a visit to the oil rig and was en route back to the Air Force base in Takoradi.
Unfortunately, due to a powerful storm and thunder, the pilot had to make an emergency landing to ensure the safety of the passengers. Regrettably, the helicopter was unable to land smoothly and ended up being severely damaged upon impact.
Despite the concerning nature of the incident, reports suggest that all individuals and crew members on the aircraft are unharmed and have been safely rescued by Air Force personnel.
Thomas Dadzie, an eyewitness and the Assemblyman for Bonsokrom, stated to Citi News that upon witnessing the situation, they promptly gathered at the scene and managed to rescue a portion of the crew.
Dadzie further mentioned that they swiftly transported them to the hospital prior to the arrival of the Air Force rescue team.
