Why Fantasy Dome Was Demolished Without Owner’s Consent

The Fantasy Dome, once a renowned venue for high-profile events and a place where music enthusiasts could get up close with their favourite artistes, now exists only as a distant memory.

This unfortunate fate befell the dome when it was ruthlessly demolished by National Security officers, acting upon the directives of the Ghana Trade Fair Company.

Leslie Quaynor, the owner of Fantasy Entertainment, expressed his shock and disappointment as he revealed that he had not been informed about the demolition. During an interview, he claimed that the Ghana Trade Fair Company was responsible for ordering the demolition.

“About an hour and half ago I was trying to reach my security team and I couldn’t reach them so I decided to come by only to find out that the Trade Fair company has under the protection of the National Security razed down my facility.

“With 4 or 5 bulldozers, they just came and within an hour and they just destroyed it,” he told Sammy Flex TV, a YouTube channel.

Additional information provided by Asaase Radio sheds light on the unfortunate incident, confirming that the Ghana Trade Fair was responsible for the demolition.

The report reveals that the demolition was deemed necessary to make way for the construction of power and water infrastructure for the “Ghana International Trade Fair Center Development Project.”

The Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, by their tenancy agreement, stated that their contract with the owner of the Fantasy Dome expired on December 31, 2023.

According to Asaase Radio’s report, the company has made numerous attempts to persuade the facility’s owner to relocate from the Trade Fair site, but all efforts have been unsuccessful.

Contrary to the CEO of Fantasy Dome’s claim that they had obtained a court injunction to halt the demolition, the Ghana Trade Fair asserts that they have not received any injunction nor are they aware of any court proceedings.

The company further emphasizes that the presence of the dome has impeded the progress of the new Trade Fair Center’s construction for approximately 12 months.
