You’re Doing Well And I’m Happy For You– Jordan Ayew Tells Younger Colleague Tariq Lamptey

After a recent derby between Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion which ended in a 1-1 tie, Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew had the chance to catch up with his countryman Tariq Lamptey.

Ayew got the game underway for Palace, and Lamptey came on as a substitute for Brighton. For their respective clubs, both players delivered strong performances, but after the game, they linked up to have a chat.

During their conversation, Jordan Ayew who is one of the senior players in the Black Stars as opposed to Lamptey who was recruited into the team recently, commended his younger colleague on his outstanding performance this season.

Ayew encouraged Lamptey to keep up the good work, telling him, “You’re doing well and I’m happy for you. I just want to say keep it up.”

Previously a youth international for England, Lamptey switched allegiances to represent Ghana at senior international level and made his debut in 2022.

Lamptey was born to Ghanaian parents in England. He played for the Young Lions for England from under-18 to under-21 level as a young international.

The Ghana Football Association contacted him in July 2020 about the possibility of his switching allegiances to play for Ghana.

However, Lamptey made his England under-21 debut on September 8 when he started in a 2-1 victory against Austria on the road in a 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying match.

He then returned to the team in March 2022, playing in the 2023 European Under-21 Championship qualification games against Andorra and Albania, after missing the previous 18 months due to injury.
