5. Joker: Folie à Deux (2024)

Phoenix is set to reprise his iconic role as the Joker, a character he brought to life in the 2018 film. Joining the sequel is Lady Gaga, taking on the role of Harley Quinn. The first released photo shows Phoenix’s Joker behind bars, while the second captures Gaga’s Harley Quinn gazing at the Joker, donned in his trademark makeup.

In addition to Phoenix and Gaga, the sequel boasts a star-studded cast, including Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, and Zazie Beetz.

It’s worth noting that Joker: Folie à Deux belongs to the DC Elseworlds, diverging from the universe shaped by Peter Safran and James Gunn since they assumed leadership of DC Studios.

11. Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024)

The Kung Fu Panda 4 release date is March 8, 2024. Although the expansion of the Kung Fu Panda franchise has continued through TV shows, the confirmation that Kung Fu Panda 4 was in development by DreamWorks Animation was unexpected. There was hope but not much of an expectation of a fourth installment, despite the Kung Fu Panda feature films being major successes at the box office.

Jack Black will return to voice Po, as he has throughout all three previous films. Awkwafina is joining the cast as the crafty thief Zhen who is trained by Po to become the newest Dragon Warrior. She will be joined by Oscar winners Viola Davis as Chameleon and Ke Huye Quan as Han. Davis’ Chameleon is the new villain of Kung Fu Panda 4, a shapeshifter who uses her powers to embody all the traits of Po’s former enemies.

12. Bob Marley: One Love (2024)

13. The Fall Guy (2024)

Get ready for the summer movie season to kick off with The Fall Guy, the action-comedy hitting theaters on May 3, 2024. Originally slated for release on March 1, 2024, the film saw a two-month delay after Deadpool 3 relinquished the slot due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The Fall Guy follows Colt Seavers, an out-of-work stuntman, who gets invited by his ex-girlfriend, making her big-budget Hollywood directing debut, to be the stuntman for a hot up-and-coming action star who’s a total jerk. When the star goes missing, Colt must find him and save him from Hollywood’s dirty underbelly, in hopes of reconnecting with his past love, saving the film, and proving he’s the best stuntman around.

14. Madame Web (2024)

The Marvel and Sony Spider-Man universe is expanding yet again with Madame Web, and Sydney Sweeney and Dakota Johnson are the latest additions to the ever-growing MCU-adjacent crew. Their upcoming film, Madame Web, is Sony’s first female-centric Marvel superhero film. The project (directed by Jessica Jones alum S.J. Clarkson) began shooting last year and has just been moved up on the theatrical release calendar by Sony. Madame Web has been moved up and down Sony’s theatrical release slate for some time now. The first release date for the film was intended to be July 7, 2023. It was then moved to October 6, 2023, then February 16, 2024. The latest move, which seems to be the final change — but nothing’s set in stone, especially with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes — pushes the movie up just a couple days. As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the premiere date for Madame Web is now February 14, Valentine’s Day 2024.

15. The Ark and the Aardvark (2024)

The Ark and the Aardvark (originally titled Noah’s Ark) is an upcoming computer-animated adventure comedy film directed by John Stevenson and written by Philip LaZebnik and Glen Dolman. The film tells the story of an aardvark who becomes the leader of a group of misfit animals in order to bring all the animals onto Noah’s Ark. The film stars the voices of Miles Teller, Aubrey Plaza, Jenny Slate, Rob Riggle, Craig Robinson and Stephen Merchant.

The story follows an outcast aardvark by the name of Gilbert, who becomes the reluctant leader of a ragtag group of misfit animals that need to be led to the mighty ark before the impending flood.

Along their journey, they band together to conquer unforeseen obstacles, and ultimately, Gilbert discovers within himself the inner strength and ingenuity to prove that in a world of “twos”, he was truly destined to be “the one.” Release date is April 30, 2024.

16. IF (2024)

IF“, originally titled Imaginary Friends, is a comedic fantasy film written and directed by John Krasinski. A young girl who experiences a tragic moment early in her life discovers she can see the imaginary friends of others who leave them behind as they grow older.

It stars Ryan Reynolds , John Krasinski , Cailey Fleming , Steve Carell , Matt Damon , Emily Blunt , Phoebe Waller-Bridge , Vince Vaughn , Sam Rockwell , Maya Rudolph , Jon Stewart, Awkwafina.

It is slated for release on May 17, 2024.

17. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man (Shameik Moore), Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld), and their extraordinary Spider-friends are gearing up for what might be their final adventure in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. This serves as the epic conclusion to Sony’s animated Spider-Verse trilogy. At the time of writing (December 18), the highly-anticipated sequel is undated. The film was originally scheduled for March 29, 2024, but it was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, as the voice cast were unable to complete dialogue recording in time.

Following the strike’s conclusion in November, Christopher Miller confirmed production on Beyond The Spider-Verse is underway during a post-screening Q&A in December.

18. Inside Out 2 (2024)

Inside Out 2 is an upcoming American animated coming-of-age film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. The sequel to Inside Out (2015), it is being directed by Kelsey Mann (in his feature directorial debut), produced by Mark Nielsen, and written by Meg LeFauve. The film stars the voices of Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black reprising their roles, with Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, and Maya Hawke joining the cast.

Inside Out 2 was first announced in September 2022 during the D23 Expo announcement, with Mann, Nielsen, and LeFauve attached as director, producer, and writer, respectively, while Poehler was revealed to reprise her role.

20. Dune: Part Two (2024)

Dune 2 might not have arrived in November 2023 as originally planned, but at least we’ve only got a few months to wait.

Director Denis Villeneuve has promised that the sequel will be worth the extended wait though. At a press conference in December 2023, he claimed that Dune Part Two is “much better than Part One“.

As mentioned above, Dune: Part Two will now arrive in cinemas on March 11, 2024.
