Ghana laboured to beat the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to book their place at the 2023 edition of the African Cup Of Nations to be held in Ivory Coast.
The Black Stars secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Raoul Savoy’s resilient side, coming from behind in the dying moments of the game. Louis Mfouta opened the scoring for the opposition in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a gap in the defence to slot the ball into an empty net.
As the game progressed, Kudus was met with resistance from the CAR defense as his attempt from beyond the box was blocked, followed by Jordan Ayew’s narrowly missed strike.
Approaching halftime with two minutes remaining, Osman Bukari was fouled at the edge of the box, leading Kudus to take the freekick and successfully score the equalizer for Ghana.
In the second half, the Black Stars had an opportunity to take the lead, but Inaki Williams was unable to make the necessary connection. In an effort to secure a win, Ghana coach Chris Hughton made swift substitutions, replacing Bukari with Ernest Nuamah and Williams with Antoine Semenyo.
Defender Alidu Seidu also made an attempt from long range, while Kudus’ strike was calmly collected by Flory Yangao.
