During a recent interview with ABC News, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, was bestowed with the title of ‘King of Afrobeats’.
This recognition comes at a time when there is a palpable rivalry between prominent artists such as Wizkid and Davido, vying for supremacy within the genre.
In the interview, Davido shared his journey of growth and development, shedding light on how he attained this prestigious title. Davido, the head of DMW (Davido Music Worldwide), took to social media to share a video of the interview, showcasing his gratitude for the acknowledgement.
He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to discuss his rise to prominence as the ‘King of Afrobeats’. The Nigerian artist emphasized the influence of Western culture on his lifestyle while highlighting the fact that his music remains deeply rooted in African culture, with approximately 80 percent of his compositions reflecting this heritage.
