AFCON 2023: Nigeria Held To 1-1 Draw By Equatorial Guinea

In a closely contested match in Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Nigeria was held to a 1-1 draw by Equatorial Guinea on Sunday afternoon, leaving the group wide open.

Following the opening game where Ivory Coast secured a 2-0 victory against Guinea Bissau, expectations were high for Nigeria in their match against Equatorial Guinea in the first round of Group A games.

Despite an impressive start by the Super Eagles, they failed to capitalize on their early dominance, and Equatorial Guinea took advantage, equalizing through Iban Salvador in the 36th minute.

Responding swiftly, Nigeria managed to restore parity just two minutes later, with Victor Osimhen finding the back of the net.

While Nigeria continued to dominate the game, especially in the second half, they struggled to secure another goal, ultimately settling for a 1-1 draw at the end of the match.
