Afua Asantewaa Breaks Silence On Accusations Of Hiding GWR Verdict From Ghanaians

In the wake of public backlash following the disclosure by Guinness World Records of Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon disqualification, Afua has come out to deny withholding the results.

Many online users, have expressed their disappointment, emphasising that given the overwhelming support from Ghanaians, Asantewaa should have promptly shared news of her rejection on social media instead of concealing it.

Responding to the barrage of criticism, Afua Asantewaa has come forward alleging that she no longer has access to her Guinness World Records dashboard.

In an interview with GhOne TV, Asantewaa claimed that she does not even possess a copy of her disqualification notice from Guinness World Records.

She further asserted that she firmly believes Guinness World Records went public with her rejection because they anticipated her confirmation, which she could not provide due to her inability to access her dashboard.

According to Asantewaa, her resilience is unwavering, and she would not have withheld her disqualification from Ghanaians if she had received the unfortunate message first.

Late last week, Guinness World Records publicly announced the rejection of Afua Asantewaa’s Sing-A-Thon attempt, stating:

“Unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans.”

“The evidence check had already commenced before Afua requested priority service, resulting in a refund of her payment earlier this month. Guinness World Records extended their best wishes to Afua for any future record attempts.”
