AKA’s Family Releases Statement Following His Tragic Death
Following the tragic shooting of South African rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, his family has confirmed his passing in a press statement they released publicly.
Tru News Report previously mentioned the light-skinned rapper was said to be at a restaurant on Florida Street in Durban when the shooting took place. He was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.
Although AKA was the intended victim of the murder, another person who was thought to be his bodyguard was also killed.
The singer’s parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, revealed his terrible passing in a statement posted on his Instagram page. The statement reads:
“It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son and confirm his untimely and tragic passing on the evening of February 10 2023. We are awaiting further details from the Durban police.
To us, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, most importantly, father to his beloved daughter, Kairo. To many, he was AKA, Supermega, Bhova, and the many other names of affection his legion of fans called him by.
“Our son was loved and gave love in return. In this time of grief, we appeal for your compassion, space and time to congregate as a family and decide on the upcoming days.”
