“All Those Who Have Been Destroyed By Anas Also Deserve Justice” – Abronye DC

Kwame Baffor Abronye DC, the regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Bono, said that he was right in his criticism of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s journalism methods.

According to a Facebook post by Abronye, the decision by the Accra High Court to throw out the defamation suit that the journalist had filed against Kennedy Agyapong confirmed Abronye’s suspicions that Anas was a criminal and blackmailer.

On the 8th March, 2019 I mentioned that Anas is a blackmailer and that he has been collecting huge sums of money to Bury investigations. He buried an investigation he did at Parliament between 2014 -15 after negotiating with John Mahama because the piece implicated several NDC MP’s who were ministers then.

Today, I have been vindicated by the court. Anas has destroyed a lot of families with his wicked activities under the guise of journalism.

We can’t let things slide like this. All persons who have been destroyed by Anas also deserve justice. Ghana has no space for criminals and blackmailer like Anas.” he stated.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the Accra High Court dismissed the 25 million cedis defamation lawsuit brought by Anas and ordered the investigative journalist to pay 50,000 cedis in compensation to Kennedy Agyapong.

Speaking after the verdict, Kennedy Agyapong said he wanted the former president of the Ghana Football Association, who was mocked in the documentary, to know that his victory was for him. He also rejected the $50,000 the court had given him and warned Anas to watch his actions.

“All I will say is the victory is especially for Kwesi Nyantakyi and this gentleman. What they have gone through in Anas’s humiliation in this country, nobody should go through that,” Kennedy Agyapong told the press. I will tell you today, the ¢50,000 I don’t need it, I will give it to him but he should live with his conscience.” he said.

In 2018, following the publication of his infamous “Number 12” documentary, which sought to expose the corruption in Ghanaian football, Anas sued the New Patriotic Party MP for allegedly defaming him.

The well-known reporter claimed that Kennedy Agyapong defamed him in his documentary “Who Watches the Watchman?” and wanted the court to give him 25 million cedis in damages.
