“Are You A Lesbian Yourself?” – Foh-Amoaning Clashes With Prof Manuh Over Approval Of Anti-LGBTQ+ bill

Prof. Takyiwaa Manuh, an emerita professor at the University of Ghana, and lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning have argued over the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021, an anti-LGBTQ+ bill that is scheduled to be approved by Parliament.

Prof. Takyiwaa Manuh, in an interview with GBC on Thursday, said that the LGBTQI community should be recognised because its members already exist in Ghanaian society.

She said that the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021 (anti-LGBTQI bill), supported by Foh-Amoaning and other Ghanaians, is motivated by hatred and should be rejected by the Ghanaian Parliament.

The professor said that Foh-Amoanging was her junior at the bar, and she implied that supporters of the anti-LGBTQI bill were doing so for other reasons.

Lawyer Foh-Amoaning, who joined the broadcast by cellphone, criticised Professor Takyiwaa Manuh for degrading him and for suggesting that Ghanaians should tolerate LGBTQI+ activities.

“What do you mean that I’m your junior at the bar, I’m your junior so what. You say we have an agenda, really! You (Prof Takyiwaa Manuh) don’t have an agenda. You think we don’t know those who are behind you.

“Do you know what homosexuals do, what are the practises of homosexuals? A lady of your age, you are saying that a man should take his penis and push it through the anus. Is the anus the aorist for sex? Professor, I’m asking you, is the anus the aorist for sex?

“How can you say that our culture accepts a thing like this that a man should take his penis and put it through faeces,” he said.

Additionally, the attorney refuted claims that hate is behind the anti-gay bill’s supporters. Meanwhile, the anti-gay bill is expected to be debated and passed by the Ghanaian Parliament today, March 31, 2023.
