Ashanti Announces She Is Pregnant And Engaged To Nelly

Ashanti has officially announced that she is pregnant with her boyfriend Nelly in a creative video shared on Instagram.

The singer partnered with Proov fertility tests and Essence magazine for the reveal, where her team members prompted her to take the stage.

In response to her mother’s question about how much time she needs, Ashanti humorously replied, “Uh, I’m gonna need about nine months.”

The video also tagged her partner and was captioned with a reference to her 2002 hit single “Baby.” Shortly after the video was posted, Essence released an exclusive interview with Ashanti confirming her engagement to Nelly.

“This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” she said. “Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancee, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”

In December, speculations about Ashanti’s pregnancy began circulating after the rapper was seen caressing her stomach while performing at the Black and White Ball in St. Louis, Missouri.

This gesture was interpreted by many as a response to online pressure for the celebrity couple to take their relationship to the next level.

Adding fuel to the rumours, Ashanti appeared alongside Ja Rule in January, sporting what some believed to be a discreetly concealed baby bump during their performance of the hit song Mesmerize.

The New York singer wore an oversized t-shirt dress and thigh-high boots, leading fans to speculate that she was trying to hide her pregnancy.

Nelly surprised everyone in September by officially confirming that he and Ashanti had rekindled their relationship.
