Ato Forson Thanks NDC For Making Him The Minority Leader In Parliament; Says He’s Had Discussions With Haruna Iddrisu

The newly appointed Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has thanked the leadership of the NDC for appointing him to lead the caucus in parliament. This is in spite of the fact that there is confusion brewing in the party over his appointment.

The Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam expressed his gratitude in a post on Facebook.

“I am honoured and humbled to have been chosen to lead our illustrious and gallant caucus in Parliament. I thank the leadership of our party who have placed their trust and confidence in me. I am also deeply grateful to colleagues, the rank and file of our party, and the Ghanaian people for their profound support and solidarity.”

Mr.Forson claims he has had a few conversations with the departing Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, and that he has praised him for his great leadership.

“I have held fruitful and positive conversations with my senior brother, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu. I commend him for his admirable stewardship when he was granted the opportunity by our party’s leadership. As leader, it will be my duty to represent our collective goals with unwavering dedication and high integrity. I have no doubt that with your support we shall succeed. May God bless our efforts.” Dr. Forson stated.

He stated that he will represent the party’s aims with “unwavering loyalty and great honesty.”

The 137 NDC MPs are currently divided over the changes to the party’s leadership in Parliament.

They have accused the party leadership of failing to consult widely before the decision.

Others are of the view that the timing is wrong. There are concerns the disagreements may affect the party as it galvanises support for the election 2024.
