It’s no disrespect to the many excellent movies that were released in 3D theatres during the last 13 years, but it’s possible that James Cameron’s long-awaited follow-up is the only theatrical release since 2009’s Avatar that you absolutely have to watch in 3D.
Even though Cameron has stated that the prolonged duration was required to focus on “connection and emotion,” you will get your money’s worth out of the film because it clocks in at 3 hours and 10 minutes. Filming on the sequel took place simultaneously with that of Avatar 3, and there is the possibility of more sequels depending on how well the first trilogy resonates with viewers.
