Barack Obama: Former President Releases His 2023 Summer Reading List

Barack Obama’s highly anticipated summer reading list for 2023 has finally been unveiled.

Discovering which books have been cut has become a cherished tradition for many, as Obama’s book recommendations hold significant weight, rivalling even Oprah’s.

As you peruse through Obama’s selections, it comes as no surprise that many of the year’s finest literary works have found their place on his list. Notably, two exceptional nonfiction books, “Poverty, By America” by Matthew Desmond and “King: A Life” by Jonathan Eig, have secured their spots as the top contenders in their genre this year.

This list serves as a testament to the fact that Obama, like many of us, shares a deep appreciation for literature. He also reveals his admiration for authors such as Dennis Lehane and S.A. Cosby, both of whom have captivated readers with their remarkable storytelling.

Even the former president couldn’t escape the allure of Birnam Woods, a book that has been making waves everywhere. Additionally, Obama’s inclusion of “The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder” by David Grann showcases his penchant for surprises.

These are the remarkable books that have earned a place on Barack Obama’s 2023 summer reading list. How many of these titles have you had the pleasure of reading? Are there any books that you expected to see on the list but didn’t? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Mr Obama shared the list on his Twitter page, writing:

As I usually do during this time of year, I wanted to share my favorite books, movies, and music of 2023. First up, here are the books I’ve enjoyed reading. If you’re looking for a new book over the holidays, give one of them a try. And if you can, shop at an independent bookstore or check them out at your local library. What were some of your favorite books this year?
