Barker-Vormawor Vows To Make Akufo-Addo’s Life A Living Hell After Leaving Office

The leader of #FixTheCountry, Oliver Mawusi Barker-Vormawor, has vowed to make President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s life a living hell due to the alleged mistreatment of those people jailed by the state in relation to the Western Togoland secessionists.

Previously, Oliver was charged with treason for threatening to organize a coup if the controversial 1.75 percent E-Levy Bill was passed by Parliament. On Monday, February 14, 2022, he was charged by the Ashaiman District Court and placed into police detention until Monday, February 28, 2022. Following an alleged social media post in which he threatened to stage a coup if the E-Levy Bill were enacted by Parliament, he was detained.

Five secessionists from Western Togoland were given a total of a 25-year sentence in prison by Judge Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh of the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra.

Police in the Volta Region made an arrest in September 2020 after suspects blocked the route to Aveyime from Accra with sand and assaulted the Aveyime and Mepe Police Stations. They were convicted on Tuesday, March 21, 2022.

On March 17, 2023, the High Court ruled that the five defendants were guilty of violating the Banned Organizations Act of 1976 (Supreme Military Council Decree/SMCD20).

The activist claims to have heard that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has detained without charge a number of people accused of being part of the secessionists organization and also said some suspects had died while in state custody and that the state had buried them without consulting the families of the deceased.

“I heard a story today that several Ghanaians picked up in connection with Western Togoland have been held in BNI/NIB custody over a year without any charges brought against them. Some have died and the bodies were not released to their families but buried by the state at its pleasure.”

“I am praying to God, that none of these grave allegations of abduction and disappearance against Nana Addo’s Government are true. But if they are, I swear on my grandmother’s grave that when this man leaves office, I will make his life a living hell!.” he said.
