Bawumia Reacts To Winning NPP Super Delegate Conference

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, has expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming support he received at the New Patriotic Party’s super delegates conference on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

Speaking to a large crowd at the party headquarters, he stressed that the November national delegates conference is still far off and that the party still has work to do.

“I want us to remember that the hard work is still ahead of us. We will have to win November 4, by the grace of God we will, and then win December 7, 2024. I am very grateful to all of you. You have done so much work. God bless all of you. I am most grateful,” he said.

The just-ended super delegates conference elected Dr. Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kyerematen, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto as the top five candidates to face off in the party’s national primaries in order to determine who will run for president.

Fifth place was a tie between Francis Addai Nimo and Boakye Agyarko. Dr. Bawumia has called for party unity as the race for party president heats up. He said the party must show unity in the 2024 elections and that the conference is just an internal battle.

“The main event for all of us in the party is December 2024… As we all work together in this party going through these processes, we all have to keep in mind that what we are all working towards is a win in December 2024 for the NPP, therefore breaking the eight in 2024. This will require a lot of unity among ourselves as a party.”
