Bawumia Visits Akwaaba Village To Support Afia Asantewaa’s Sing-a-thon World Record Attempt
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia made a surprise appearance at the Sing-a-thon event to support Afia Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum in her quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon.
Afia, driven by her passion and determination, began her ambitious journey at midnight on December 12. She aims to surpass the current record held by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, who sang for 105 hours in 2012. Afia’s captivating voice, blending gospel and highlife rhythms, resonated throughout the lively Akwaaba Village.
As she approached the 48-hour mark, Dr Bawumia surprised the crowd by joining them in thunderous applause, waving a miniature Ghanaian flag.
The Vice President’s unexpected presence electrified the atmosphere, resulting in cheers from the audience. After enjoying Afia’s performance and engaging with the crowd, Dr Bawumia graciously granted a quick interview to the media.
The vice president, who is also the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), said, “Afia has showcased incredible passion and unwavering determination. Witnessing her talent firsthand, I have no doubt she can break this record. Let’s all stand behind her, cheering her on until she sings her way into the record books!”
