Blakk Rasta Takes Kwame Sefa Kayi To The Cleaners Over UTV Attack

Blakk Rasta has expressed his dissatisfaction with Kwame Sefa Kayi’s comments regarding the recent disturbance caused by NPP thugs at UTV.

Blakk Rasta, a renowned radio host and reggae musician, criticized his colleague for not speaking out against the attack. Blakk Rasta strongly believes that Kwame Sefa Kayi, the host of Kokrokoo on Peace FM, is unable to condemn the assault on UTV due to his acceptance of an appointment from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Blakk Rasta asserts that this appointment has restrained Kwame Sefa Kayi from addressing the issues plaguing the nation, resulting in his inability to openly criticize the intrusion of his own company by NPP troublemakers.

“Taking an appointment with the devil, my brother and my sister is becoming the devil’s agent. I am glad that you [Kwame Sefa Kayi] are a member of the governing party [NPP] because you’ve been given an appointment that you accepted till today,” he said.

Kwame Sefa Kayi is also being advised by Blakk Rasta to step down from his position as a board member of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in order to distance himself from the government led by Akufo-Addo, thereby regaining his voice to speak on behalf of all problems.

Speaking on the UrbanBlend show on 3FM “Now that your UTV has been attacked, you don’t even have the courage to condemn it to the highest level. Saying ‘I am sitting and watching, which means you are waiting to see what will happen. I can advise you. I can only suggest; if I were you, I’d step down”.

“Chairman General, the party is embarrassing you, right? If I were you, number one, I would not accept that appointment. Number two, in the name of honesty and in the name of neutrality, it would have been better for all these years that you have worked as a journalist of repute.

“You sat down; we all saw how this nation dwindled into oblivion, dwindled into the deepest parts of poverty and economic mismanagement. You sat down and watched E-levy become an albatross around our necks,” Blakk Rasta emphasized.

Background

On September 30, 2023, esteemed musician and activist Kwame A Plus made a public appearance on live television to express his disapproval of a letter addressed to the management of UTV by the New Patriotic Party.

The letter, which demanded reforms to the United Showbiz program, was read aloud by A Plus during the September 30 broadcast, where he proceeded to vehemently criticize its content and the appropriateness of its issuance.

A Plus referred to the letter as “ineffective” and raised concerns about its potential to tarnish the reputation of the NPP, thereby potentially undermining the clear constitutional provisions regarding media independence.

In a symbolic act, A Plus tore his copy of the letter into pieces, emphasizing the revolting nature of its contents. He further highlighted that the receipt of threatening calls aimed at shutting down UTV United Showbiz only served to reinforce the repugnance of the letter.

Additionally, A Plus pointed out that a significant majority, approximately 90%, of UTV’s viewership comprised NPP supporters, who were consistently praised for their contributions to the station.

“NPP members should refrain from such actions and never write such a letter again. This letter is absurd.

“Nobody in this country can dictate what we do on this show, especially when the President of Ghana is a seasoned lawyer who believes in the rule of law. Don’t ever write such things again,” he stressed.
