Coolio’s Manager To Manage His Estate Because He Died Without A Will
Since Coolio left no will, his longtime manager Jarel ‘Jarez’ Posey has been given custody of the late rapper’s estate.
A judge in Las Vegas is said to have approved Jarel Posey’s plea for access to the late California rapper’s estate, according to RadarOnline.
He was selected as Coolio’s estate’s special administrator, which means he is in charge of managing the estate’s finances and residuals, according to court documents. Due to Coolio’s absence of a will, which was mentioned in Posey’s petition, his estate was distributed to his children.
Posey sought an appointment as executor to avoid “waste and/or loss of the personal property of [Coolio]. Specifically, the estate is believed to include personal property and demand deposit accounts, financial accounts, insurance policies and royalties, all of which need to be marshalled and protected on behalf of the estate.”
In the opinion of Coolio’s manager, the court needed to appoint him and authorize him to “access monies from Decedent’s personal property and accounts and the same shall be placed in the attorney’s IOLTA Trust Account until further ordered by the Court.”
Coolio (real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr.) passed away on September 28, 2022, at the age of 59 after he was discovered unconscious inside a friend’s home in Los Angeles.
Coolio cause of death
Coolio’s cause of death was attributed to a fentanyl overdose, according to a coroner’s report shared by the Los Angeles rapper’s family.
Jarel ‘Jarez’ Posey, a representative for the family of the “Gangsta’s Paradise” singer, told TMZ on Thursday (April 6) that they had learned from the coroner that the Coolio died as a result of a narcotic cocktail.
The rapper apparently also had a combination of heroin and methamphetamines in his system in addition to fentanyl. The coroner also thought that his long-standing smoking habit and severe asthma contributed to his body’s incapacity to defend itself, which resulted in his terrible death.
