Dancehall Star Vybz Kartel Battling Life-Threatening Graves’ Disease And Heart Conditions

Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel is said to have a “life-threatening” illness and heart condition while serving a life sentence in jail.

His attorneys spoke with Evers on FOX 5 NY saying that Kartel has two heart problems and Graves’ disease, which is an autoimmune disease. The medical report talks about how Kartel has been dealing with Graves’ disease and other health problems for the past seven years.

Human rights attorney Isat Buchanan said, “Mr. Palmer’s illness is actually life-threatening.” To make matters worse, his attorney notes that for the last week, Kartel has been in solitary lockdown 23 hours a day over an alleged cell phone infraction.

“He’s in a cell, and if you can picture a brick oven because that’s how those cells are built, the ventilation is next to none,” Buchanan added.

Buchanan, went on to tell Evers he saw him on Memorial Day and said he did not look well. “His neck was swollen, if you think of a shirt that is about 18.5 inches in the neck area, you couldn’t close the collar on his neck and that’s how bad it is in this moment,” Fox 5 quotes said. “His face is actually swollen. And one other thing. He always wears glasses; in this condition, that causes his eyes to protrude.”

Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, went to the hospital a few weeks ago for problems with his thyroid.

Buchanan went on to say that Kartel is currently “Fighting for his life, yes, because it can be dangerous. We do not want to get a phone call to say that because he was under this 23-hour lockdown, and unable to breathe, that he succumbed to his illness.”

Evers also spoke with Kartel’s son who shared how worried he is about his father.

On top of his Graves disease, which has not gone into remission despite taking medication, the entertainer also suffers from two heart conditions and complications. In the medical report obtained exclusively by FOX 5 NY, Kartel’s well-respected private physician, Dr. Karen Phillips, recommends surgery as soon as possible.

Kartel is one of the most famous and controversial people in Jamaican music. He is known for his controversial songs and trouble with the law. He was found guilty of murder in 2014 and is now in jail for the rest of his life. Even though he is in jail, he is still a big part of the dancehall scene and has kept putting out music from behind bars.

What Is Graves’ Disease?

Graves’ disease is an autoimmune thyroid gland disorder. It is the most prevalent cause of hyperthyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid produces too much thyroxine.

Graves’ disease is characterised by weight loss, an increased appetite, excessive perspiration, a rapid pulse rate, and anxiety. It can lead to significant complications such as eye problems and heart failure if left untreated.

Graves’ disease is typically treated with medication or surgery to remove a portion or the entire thyroid gland.
