Dr. Duffuor Calls For Postponement Of NDC primaries Due To An Incomplete And Incorrect Voter Register

National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has requested that the party delay the May 13 presidential and parliamentary primaries.

According to him, his staff has found certain inconsistencies in the party’s voter registry that would be used in the exercise, prompting him to make the call.

He claims that the voter registration information he was provided is incorrect and inadequate for use in the primary elections.

Dr. Duffuor stated in a letter to the party’s general secretary on Monday, May 8, that the delay will give the party more time to address the concerns he has expressed.

“Upon initial review of the 220 constituencies Voters Register (Photo Album), we identified several discrepancies in the register that indicate it is both incomplete and inaccurate. Having an incomplete and inaccurate register is a significant issue when going into an election because it undermines the credibility and fairness of the election process.” part of the letter reads.

“A comprehensive and accurate voter register is essential for ensuring that eligible voters are properly registered, and for preventing fraudulent activities such as multiple voting, impersonation and being refused a vote on the day of election”.

“The incomplete and inaccurate Voters register has a high potential of deliberately causing an irreparable damage to the bright chances of Candidate Dr. Kwabena Duffuor – which we are unable to countenance.”

Dr. Duffuor has already expressed frustration over the late arrival of the party’s voter register for the primary elections.

In spite of his complaints, the party eventually handed over the voter registration list to him. But he notes certain problems with the register as it was presented to him.
