Erling Haaland has won the official 2022/23 Premier League Player of the Season award.
The 22-year-old has scored 36 goals and provided eight assists in 35 EPL appearances during his first season with Manchester City. Prior to Haaland, no player had ever scored more than 34 goals in a single Premier League campaign.
In a poll, Haaland triumphed over other nominees Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, Kieran Trippier, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Odegaard to claim the honour for this season.
Additionally, the City attacker defeated Saka, Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, Sven Botman, and Alexander Isak to win the Premier League’s official Young Player of the Season title.
Reacting to his double victory, Haaland wrote on Twitter: “Proud and humbled to become the first-ever footballer to win both the Premier League Player of the Season and Premier League Young Player of the Season.
“Thanks to my family, fans, teammates and the whole staff for this!”
Haaland also won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award earlier this month.
He is the favourite to win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, an award voted for by his fellow professionals.
