Fans Slam King Promise As Dumsor, Technical Issues ‘Rock’ Promiseland 2023

King Promise’s highly anticipated Promiseland concert turned out to be a major disappointment, leaving the artiste feeling disheartened.

The event, which was supposed to kick off at 8 p.m. at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, suffered from a series of technical mishaps, including frequent blackouts. This unfortunate development has added a new discourse to entertainment in Ghana.

Patrons who eagerly flocked to the venue to witness King Promise and other top acts were left frustrated when the concert started late.

According to Kenneth Awotwe Darko, an entertainment journalist who was present at Promiseland, there was a complete lack of electricity to power the show as of 11:28 p.m. Furthermore, the stage was not even fully set up when most fans arrived at the scheduled time.

After a six-hour delay, the show finally began after midnight. However, the damage had already been done. It is worth noting that last year’s event also suffered from similar issues, with the show starting late despite fans giving King Promise some leeway due to his previous mishap with WizKid.

Despite the setbacks, other artists such as R2Bees, M.anifest, Camidoh, and many more managed to entertain the disgruntled Promiseland audience, setting the stage for King Promise’s eventual performance.

Here’s a series of tweets from Kenneth Awotwe Darko to illustrate what happened in the evening:

Similar to Stonebwoy’s Bhim Concert, Sarkodie’s Rapperholic, and Shatta Wale’s Freedom Wave Concert, Promiseland is a musical extravaganza organized by King Promise to express gratitude to his fans and music enthusiasts nationwide.

Nevertheless, since its inception a few years ago, it has failed to create a lasting impact due to certain challenges encountered by the artiste. This could potentially impact his mindset, especially when comparing his experience to the successful endeavours of Stonebwoy and Sarkodie.
