According to the BBC, four people have been arrested and charged about a series of high-value burglaries, one of which targeted the residence of a prominent Premier League football player.
The house of Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle United, located in Darras Hall, Northumberland, was unlawfully entered, and his vehicle was subsequently stolen earlier this month.
Additionally, several other residences in Sunderland and Newcastle were targeted, resulting in the theft of a substantial amount of cash, thousands of pounds worth of designer clothing, and jewelry valued at £1 million.
Detective Inspector Shaun Fordy, representing the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU), emphasized that such criminal activities will not be tolerated.
Isak’s residence was burglarized on 4 April, and although his car was later discovered abandoned three miles away in Dissington, the investigation remains ongoing.
Cash, designer clothing, and jewellery valued at £1 million were stolen from a residence on Clayton Road in Jesmond back in March.
Additionally, jewellery worth £100,000, designer clothes, and cash were also taken from a property on Woodlands Grove in Sunderland. Law enforcement officials managed to recover some of the stolen items.
Four Croatian citizens, aged 23, 27, 31, and 42, who had recently entered the UK from Italy, were apprehended in the West Midlands on Friday.
They have been formally charged with burglary and are scheduled to appear at Bedlington Magistrates’ Court soon. Detective Inspector Fordy highlighted that the arrests were a result of collaborative efforts between NEROCU and Northumbria Police.
