Ghanaians Troll Stonebwoy Over Grammy Snub
Following the announcement of the full list of nominees for the 2024 Grammy Awards, Stonebwoy and his fans have been targeted by trolls who are eager to see the downfall of their music rivals.
These trolls have taken to social media to mock Stonebwoy for not being included in the list. They have been making derogatory comments about him, claiming that he was too arrogant and had expected to be nominated due to his inflated ego.
Tru News Report initially reported that the recently released full list of nominees for the Grammy Awards’ “Best African Music Performance” category did not include Sarkodie, Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, or Shatta Wale, Ghana’s mainstream artistes who had bangers in the year under review.
The category was established to acknowledge exceptional recordings that showcase distinct local styles from different African regions. However, the majority of the nominees are Nigerian artists, as anticipated.
The nominations featured four Nigerian artists and one South African in this newly established category.
The nominated artistes and songs include Asake & Olamide – “Amapiano” (Nigeria), Burna – “City Boys” (Nigeria), Davido ft. Musa key – “Unavailable” (Nigeria), Ayra Starr – “Rush” (Nigeria) and Tyla – “Water” (South Africa).
Not too long ago, Stonebwoy revealed that his latest album, ‘5th Dimension’, was in the running for a Grammy Award, which he announced on his Facebook page.
He expressed his gratitude to his fans for allowing him to share his musical journey with them. Stonebwoy was confident that his music career is still on the rise and has already caught the attention of the Recording Academy. ‘5th Dimension’ has been a huge success since its release on April 28, with millions of streams on Spotify and Audiomack.
The album features 17 tracks that showcase Stonebwoy’s ability to blend different musical genres and cultural influences into his work. Despite the positive reception, Stonebwoy faced criticism from trolls after the full nominations were announced on Friday.
Despite the rampant trolling, Berla Mundi, a well-known media personality, has come forward to implore Ghanaians to abstain from engaging in such harmful behaviors.
Guys stop mocking @stonebwoy . We’ve all seen how hard the guy has worked on getting his brand out there. It doesn’t take a day. Let’s appreciate him for continuing to make strides and encourage other artistes to move out there and get their brands recognised globally. The Nigerians are doing it and their fans are solidly behind them!!! #GRAMMYs
