Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies Record First Win In CAF Women’s Champions League

Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies made a winning debut in the CAF Women’s Champions League, coming from behind to overcome Moroccan club AS FAR 2-1 in their first encounter in San Pedro.

Ampem Darkoa fell behind after 14 minutes when AS FAR’s Najat Badri scored. They quickly settled down and proceeded to dominate the game. Despite having multiple chances, they were unable to equalize before halftime.

Ampem Darkoa maintained their determined play in the second half, with Comfort Yeboah eventually breaching AS FAR’s resistance by scoring the equalizer in the 57th minute.

Shortly after, they managed to force a second goal when AS FAR defender Nouhaila Benzina, who made history in July by being the first player to wear a hijab at a World Cup, put the ball in her own net.

Ampem Darkoa efficiently managed the game after taking the lead, securing a victory in their first Group B match. Their next match is against Malian side AS Mande, and their group-stage campaign will end against Equatorial Guinea’s Huracanes.

Ampem Darkoa is looking for a quadruple after winning the Women’s Premier League, FA Cup, and the WAFU Zone B tournament in Ghana.
