Hajia4Reall Denied Bail In US Court After Revealing Plans To Return To Ghana

The Department of Justice in the United States appears to have denied bail to Mona Faiz Montrage, a well-known Ghanaian socialite and entrepreneur who goes by the name Hajia 4Reall, saying the singer did not qualify to be released on bail.

Documents filed by US Attorney Damian Williams of the Southern District of New York, as reported by media journalist Kofi Adoma, show that the socialite did not satisfy US standards for a bail request.

She formally asked the court to reduce her bond so that she could return to New York. The socialite has been placed under house arrest.

The judge also emphasised the substantial evidence against the socialite, saying that releasing her on bail would be risky under US Justice Code Section 3142-G because of the possibility that she might escape.

Hajia 4Reall will certainly welcome the news with disappointment as she assured her fans and followers on Instagram Live that she will be returning to Ghana soon.

“Maybe in July, I should be in Ghana you know. With God, everything is possible. Nothing is impossible,” she disclosed.

She was extradited from the United Kingdom to the United States for allegedly defrauding older, unmarried American women and men of more than $2 million in a romance scam.

Montrage, 30, was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, one count of wire fraud, one count of money laundering conspiracy, and one count of money laundering, each of which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

She appeared in Manhattan federal court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charges, and according to her counsel, she will be released in the coming days on a $500,000 bail with GPS monitoring via an ankle monitor.
