I Introduced Kyeiwaa To The Movie Industry- Agya Koo Shares Backstory

Agya Koo has recently claimed that he played a significant role in the success of fellow actress Rose Mensah, popularly known as Kyeiwaa.

According to Agya Koo, he was the one who introduced Kyeiwaa to the Kumawood film industry, which is known for producing movies in the Twi language.

In an interview with Fox FM, Agya Koo revealed that he first met Kyeiwaa in Kumasi, where he was impressed by her acting skills during a performance. He then recommended her to a producer who was looking for a new face for a movie role. Kyeiwaa was eventually cast in the movie, which became a hit and launched her career in the industry.

Agya Koo further emphasized that he continued to support Kyeiwaa by recommending her for other roles and helping her navigate the industry. He also claimed that he was instrumental in negotiating better pay for Kyeiwaa and other actors in the industry.

Kyeiwaa, who is now a household name in Ghana and beyond, has not yet responded to Agya Koo’s claims. However, some fans have expressed their gratitude to Agya Koo for his role in helping to launch Kyeiwaa’s career and for his contributions to the Kumawood film industry as a whole.

In the words of Agya Koo:

“I am telling you that I brought Kyeiwaa to join the movie industry. Everybody knew she was doing Akan drama. She was staying behind my house so she got to know me and we started engaging. Initially, when I was in a band group she was part of my concert team. It got to a point when the movie producers needed someone to play a role and I recommended her to them and insisted that she should be part of the team. She [Kyeiwaa] did not have a place to stay in Kumasi so she had to stay with Mercy Asiedu temporarily before she later got a place for herself. So in terms of the movie industry, I was the one who brought her to Kumasi to start acting.”
