Assin North By-Election: EC Assures Of Free And Fair Polls – EC

On June 27, a by-election will be held in Assin North, and the Electoral Commission (EC) has said it is prepared to hold a free, fair, and transparent poll.

There will be 99 polling stations for the approximately 41,168 registered voters. Each polling station is planned to have two Biometric Verification Devices (BVD), for a total of more than 198.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, June 21st, EC Regional Director Mrs. Gladys Pinkrah stated that the Commission had received ballot papers, a notice of poll, and biometric certification devices. In preparation for the highly anticipated by-election on Tuesday, June 27 in the Assin North Constituency in the Central Region, the EC commissioned training for EC personnel.

Meanwhile, Veteran Ghanaian actor Alex Adu Kofi, popularly known as Agya Koo, said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will lose the Assin North by-election because of the good works of the Akufo-Addo government. To help the New Patriotic Party (NPP) win the Central Region’s Assin North Constituency by-election, Agya Koo has thrown his support behind them.

According to the legendary Kumawood actor, Nana Addo’s outstanding performance will win over the voters in the constituency, making it possible for the NPP candidate to win.

The actor claimed that prominent members of the opposition New Democratic Party (NDC) were spreading false information about President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in order to sway voters against them on the issue of LGBTQ+ legalisation.
