I Leave My Share Of Royalties To Kaywa’s Label – Mr. Drew

Ghanaian musician Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, better known as Mr. Drew, claims that he will be leaving his royalty earnings to Highly Spiritual Music, his previous record label.

Mr. Drew has had issues with producer Kaywa ever since the musician parted ways with his former label. Highly Spiritual’s founder, Kaywa, has levelled an accusation of ingratitude at the musician for the manner in which he parted ways with the record company.

The musician has taken offence at these allegations and has publicly denied them on several occasions. He went so far as to say that if he had had legal counsel at the time, he could have negotiated a more favourable deal.

But things took a surprising turn after Mr. Drew’s appearance on Showbiz 260, a programme broadcast on TV3 in Accra.

The 27-year-old performer spoke highly of the label president throughout the interview, praising his help and support throughout his career in entertainment in Ghana. Mr. Drew announced his decision to stop receiving royalties from his former label boss while expressing his desire for the two parties to move on.

“I want to use this platform to thank thing highly spiritual music, Papa Kaywa for working with me for the past 5 years. It’s never been easier, and I want to say thank you to him,” he said.

As a token of his gratitude, he now declared, “I am even leaving my royalties to him…Like that should be part of me being grateful and saying, oh, thank you to Highly Spiritual Music… So I leave everything I leave my share of royalties to the label.” he added
