‘Ibi Wagadri’- D-Black Withdraws Praise For Akufo Addo, Ofori Atta Over Tax Abolishment
D-Black has backtracked on the appellations he showered on the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) under the tutelage of Nana Akufo Addo and the unflinching support he offered them in the build-up to the 2016 presidential elections.
In a post he made on Friday, August 18, 2023, the rapper and business mogul withdrew the praise he heaped on the president and the Finance Minister over tax abolishment after realizing the government tricked Ghanaians into believing they had done away with some levies imposed on the importation of spare parts, raw materials, and petroleum.
In the lead-up to the 2016 elections, D-Black was one of several mainstream celebrities who supported the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. The party’s pledge to abolish taxes, which he believed would make Ghanaians’ lives easier, particularly struck him.
The award-winning rapper has since expressed sorrow about his choice to back the NPP. The president’s and finance minister’s promises to abolish taxes, according to the artist, impacted his and many other people’s thoughts.
