I’m Not Super Proud Of It – Sarkodie Speaks About His Diss Song To Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has admitted that he is not really proud of his recent diss song titled “Try Me” about actress Yvonne Nelson.”

Sarkodie was criticised for his response to the allegations made against him by Yvonne Nelson in her book “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson.

In the book, which generated a lot of controversy in entertainment in Ghana, she detailed how she became pregnant with the rapper and stated that he requested that she abort the child because he was not ready. In response, Sarkodie released a diss track titled “Try Me,” in which he insulted and shamed the actress by comparing her to a street girl.

For the first time since the song’s release, he has finally spoken about it in an interview on the American show Way Up With Angela. According to him, he only recorded the song to express his emotions and had no intention of sharing it with the general public but when he discovered that it had been leaked, he went along with it.

“To be very honest, It is a sensitive conversation, and the reason why I didn’t do any media or press things around it is because I might lose how I will like to present what I will like to present, what I feel about it.”

“This is not the first time I have done songs to address certain issues, because there is certain eneygy I hate to feed into, especially speaking about because I might lose my cool. With this situation, I am not going to sit here and say I am super proud of everything. It is just in the moment how I felt, whether being my truth, there should have been a way you could have said it, and that is why I don’t like to speak about it,” he added.

He went on to say that the song was recorded without his team’s knowledge. They had no idea he had recorded anything because he had gone to the studio alone. Even though he claims the song leaked after he emailed it to three people, he is hesitant to hold any of them responsible.
