Impeach The President; Demonstrations Will Lead Us Nowhere – Osofo Kyiri Abosom

Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, also known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, the founder and head of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has suggested that the Minority Caucus in Parliament initiate moves to impeach President Akufo-Addo rather than staging a protest.

The famed clergyman, who is hoping to lead the country on the ticket of the aforementioned political party, says that the #OccupyBoGProtest was pointless. In his opinion, the president has not only failed and improperly managed the economy, but he has also broken the sacred oath of office.

Osofo Kyiri Abosom urged the Minority Caucus to use their power to have the president removed from office in accordance with the Constitution.

He found it outrageous that the Bank of Ghana had lost GHC 60 during the fiscal year ending in 2022. He also voiced concern over the Cecilia Dapaah case, saying that the money missing from her home could fund the construction of three factories to help lower Ghana’s unemployment rate.

“I want to use this platform of yours to say that the demonstration was needless or a waste of time. The minority should rather initiate steps to impeach the president. The various demonstrations will lead us nowhere. People have died while demonstrating since 1995,” he said.

“What have demonstrations given us? They have served no purpose. We need to educate Ghanaians so they will know and understand our laws. We also need to review the Constitution to ensure that our leaders who steal from the state can be prosecuted and jailed even while in office. Our parliamentarians must do better,” he added.
