Jack Nicholson’s surprise public appearance at an NBA playoff game delighted basketball and movie lovers equally.
The actor, who celebrated his 86th birthday last week, watched the Los Angeles Lakers play the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday (28 April) at home. Nicholson attended the event at the Crypto.com Arena in his customary courtside seat for the first time since the beginning of the previous season in October 2021.
The movie legend is renowned for his seclusion, so when he was seen watching Game 4 of the Warriors vs. Lakers courtside at the Los Angeles Crypto.com Arena with celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Chris Pratt, and Flea, many fans were thrilled to see him.
Joined by his son Ray Nicholson, the One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest star watched the game from his usual position near the opposing bench.
Upon arrival at the arena, Nicholson shook hands with basketball team executives and spoke to reporters, who greeted him by saying “welcome back”. He also embraced star player LeBron James before the start of the game.
Nicholson has long been one of the Lakers’ most well-known fans and purchased his first season tickets for the team in 1970. He was well-known for adjusting his shooting schedules throughout his career to make sure he could see every important Lakers game.
