Jay Z, DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend, Fridayy Performs “God Did” At The 2023 Grammys

Jay-Z, DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend, and Fridayy presented the ultimate gift for hip-hop fans with their performance of “God Did” at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

DJ Khaled began his performance inside the Crypto.com arena before the camera cut outdoors, where he joined John Legend, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and others to continue the performance in the middle of the street.

The performance went with “The Last Supper” theme, when Jay-Z arrived to perform his nearly five-minute verse. All the other artistes sat at a long dining table in the middle of street complete with a feast and candles. Jay-Z’s verse went close to five minutes. Although the rapper was seated for the performance, he kept the energy high.

The eight-minute rap song “God Did” was nominated for three Grammy awards: song of the year, best rap performance and best rap song. The song is featured on DJ Khaled’s 13th studio album of the same name, which was nominated for best rap album.

“God Did” features some of hip-hop’s most formidable artistes. Jay-Z entered the Grammys with the record of 88 nominations (tied with his wife Beyoncé) and 24 wins, despite rarely performing live. John Legend has received 12 Grammy Awards in addition to 36 nominations. Lil Wayne has won five Grammys and had 27 nominations, whereas DJ Khaled has won one Grammy and received 10 nominations. Rick Ross has gotten nine nominations, while Fridayy has received three for his contribution to the song.

On Feb. 2, Lil Wayne received the Global Impact Award from DJ Khaled at the Recording Academy Honors presented by the Black Music Collective event.

Other performers at the 65th Grammys include Harry Styles, Bad Bunny, Mary J. Blige, Brandi Carlile, Luke Combs, Steve Lacy and Lizzo.
