Many predicted an overwhelming victory for the former president seeking a return to office, including Mahama’s campaign staff, a good number of MPs, party leaders, and pollsters.

Even as late as Thursday, May 11, 2023, it looked like the election would be rescheduled. However, on May 13, 2023, Dr. Kwabena Duffour reversed his earlier decision to injunct the election, clearing the way for it to proceed as planned.

In the contest for the presidency. In the 2024 elections, John Dramani Mahama is expected to lead the party, despite a challenge from former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu.

Several areas across the country began voting without problem in the presidential and parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress at 7:00 a.m. and went on until about 2 p.m. Delegates in the Greater Accra Region started lining up for the elections at 6:00 a.m.

The number of eligible voters is 1379, and only 1246 cast ballots. Many voters are optimistic that the NDC will regain power in 2024 because of how calm the primaries have been.

There were a total of 420 voting locations across the nation. A maximum of 1,200 delegates were allowed at each polling location. There are 117 candidates competing for seats in Accra, 107 in Kumasi, and 75 in the Volta region, making that region the third most competitive region.
