The former Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Deputy Minister for the region, Joseph Yamin, believes that John Mahama is Ghana’s only hope, so he stated that the party’s leaders will do everything in their power to help former president John Mahama win the election in 2024.
In an interview with Prince Kwabena Minkah on TV XYZ, he said, “I will advocate that the best bet for the NDC is John Mahama,” he said in an interview with Prince Kwabena Minkah on Dwaboase and added “Our core operation is to win power for the NDC and make John Mahama the president in 2025.”
When asked why he was publicly advocating for the former president while serving as a national executive of the party, Mr. Yammin stated that the NDC should be serious and support because he’s the only person who could fight the NPP squarely.
“The NDC should be serious; There is no time to play; there is no time for gambling. The only person who can save this country is John Dramani Mahama.”
On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, John Mahama officially announced that he will run for president in the 2024 general election under the NDC ticket.
Three people have already chosen presidential nomination forms for the opposition NDC to challenge former president John Mahama in the party’s upcoming primary.
Former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu, and British businessman Ernest Kobeah are the three men in question.
In comparison to his rivals, political experts believe that Mahama’s record as a former president and flagbearer gives him an advantage. That’s why Yamin is calling for unity within the NDC behind Mahama going into the May primaries.
