Policeman Who Shot His Girlfriend In Kumasi Arrested

According to a new update, the police inspector who murdered a woman at Adum in Kumasi last Thursday night has been nabbed by the police.

On Sunday night, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi—who is accused of shooting and killing the young lady who was thought to be his girlfriend—was apprehended. The shooting event took place on Thursday night (April 20, 2023) in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region.

A special Police operation that was started after the shooting event resulted in the arrest of the culprit, who had been on the run since the incident, in Sekyere, close to Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.

According to a statement released by the police on Sunday night, the suspect is currently in police custody and will be brought before the court to answer for his or her crimes.

Recall that following the incident that occurred last week, police in Kumasi have launched a massive search for the unidentified man after he allegedly fired multiple shots to kill a woman at Adum in Kumasi on Thursday night.

The attacker, according to the account provided by Graphic Online, hopped into a rickshaw [a small, two-wheeled passenger vehicle known as a Pragya in Ghana] and fled.

Around 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023, the incident took place behind Aseda House near Dufie Towers. The woman, who was reportedly a single mother, was taken in an ambulance to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where doctors immediately declared her dead.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was seen chatting with the deceased before shooting her at close range. “After the first two shots, she was pleading with the guy to stop and he added three more shots before jumping into a rickshaw [a light two-wheeled passenger vehicle] to run away.

“Because he was holding a gun, we could not attempt to arrest him,” said the eyewitnesses.
