Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, And Two Others Pick Nomination Forms For NPP Flagbearer Race

Some presidential hopefuls have picked up the New Patriotic Party (NPP) nomination forms for the party’s flagbearer race.

On Friday, May 26th, former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremanten Agyarko was the first to pick forms. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, who used to be the General Secretary of the NPP, and former MP for Mampong Francis Addai-Nimoh also picked up their forms to race.

Addai-Nimoh’s spokesman, George Obeng Antwi, is positive about his candidate’s chances and expressed optimism that his boss will be President of Ghana in 2025.

“We just went for the forms for Addai-Nimoh. We are friends of Addai-Nimoh, and we believe that he’s the best person to lead us into the next general elections. What we are saying is that if the NPP can win the next general elections, it has to be someone who is not part of this administration,” he said.

Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, an economist and two-time presidential candidate for the NPP, also had his staff pick up nomination forms in his place.

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former minister of trade and industry; Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former minister of agriculture; Kennedy Agyapong and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are all expected to also pick up nomination forms.

However, on Friday morning, the vice president’s Bawumia Fun Club was said to have picked up a form in his name. After picking the forms, the group said that Dr. Bawumia should be elected as the NPP’s leader so that the party can “break the 8” and remain in power in the 2024 elections.
