Marriage Not Responsible For My Absence From Music Scene- Becca

Becca has clarified that her absence from the music scene is not due to marriage, emphasizing that music will always be her top priority.

The Daa Ka Daa hitmaker explained that her break coincided with her marriage, leading to assumptions that her marital status was the cause of her hiatus.

She mentioned that she chose to take a step back to focus on other opportunities and diversify her sources of income beyond music, which had been her primary source of livelihood for many years.

“It was not about marriage. That’s the mistake people are making. It just coincided, sort of, because it was a decision I’d already made, that I wanted to take some time. I’d (been active) for eleven years almost. And I just thought to a little break,” she said.

“I wanted to get into real estate because that’s where I wanted to make money elsewhere. I wanted to concentrate on my spa, which is one of the biggest spas in Ghana right now. I wanted to do other things,” she added.

Becca refuted the notion that marriage and childbirth had caused her to disappear from the scene. She reassured her fans that her love for music remains unwavering and she has no intentions of abandoning it.

And then, of course, children come in, and then you’re like, okay, and then you have your husband. But that wasn’t the focus. I wanted to explore other avenues as well. Music is always going to be my first. I can’t run away from that, no matter what.

In 2007, Becca released her debut studio album “Sugar,” which garnered significant recognition. The album received five nominations at the 2008 Ghana Music Awards, including a nomination for Record of the Year for her hit single “You Lied to Me.”

Following her successful debut, Becca released her second studio album, “Time 4 Me,” on 16 May 2013. This album featured notable guest appearances from artists like 2face Idibia, MI, King Ayisoba, Trigmatic, Jay Storm, and Akwaboah. Notably, “Time 4 Me” achieved a remarkable milestone by being certified 2x platinum in Ghana.

Becca’s remarkable talent and contributions to the music industry have earned her numerous accolades. She has been honored with prestigious awards such as the Kora Award, National Youth Achievers Award, four Ghana Music Awards, and three 4Syte TV Music Video Awards. Additionally, she headlined the annual Girl Talk concert in 2013, which has become a highly anticipated event since its inception in 2011.

Recognized for her influence and impact, Becca was ranked 94 on E.tv Ghana’s 2013 list of the 100 most influential people in Ghana. Furthermore, in March 2021, she was included in 3Music Network’s list of the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music, solidifying her position as a trailblazer in the industry.

Throughout her career, Becca has collaborated with renowned artists such as Hugh Masakela and MI Abaga, showcasing her versatility and ability to work with diverse talents.
