Mohammed Kudus Swerves Arsenal, Chelsea For Brighton

Chelsea and Arsenal target Mohammed Kudus is set to move to Brighton and Hove Albion for a fee of £35million from Ajax.

The 23-year-old, who can play on either the wings or behind a striker, informed Ajax that he did not want to renew his contract and that a transfer this summer would benefit all parties.

According to earlier reports, Chelsea were interested in signing Kudus as a way to improve their attacking alternatives. Arsenal were also believed to be keen on him as Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of his versatility.

Reports from credible journalists in the UK however indicate that Kudus is likely to end up at Brighton after the club reached agreements with him and Ajax.

Kudus’ arrival most likely corresponds with Alexis Mac Allister’s departure from the team earlier in the transfer window, when he signed a lucrative deal with Liverpool.

After making an impression while playing for his old team, FC Nordsjaelland, Kudus was acquired by Ajax in 2020 for £8 million. The midfielder has won two Eredivisie championships and scored 23 goals in 84 games throughout his three years with the Dutch powerhouses.

Mohammed Kudus was included in the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 ranking for 2023. Kudus endeared himself to Ghanaians with his outstanding performance for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign which was staged in Qatar, where he scored two goals in the group stage.

He has since been a key player for both the club and country in the current campaign.

Mohammed Kudus is one of two Ghanaians to have been named in Forbes Africa’s list alongside German-based creative director and videographer, Emmanuel Whajah, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of ‘Play The Game’ a social media agency.

Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 honours the continent’s most brilliant pioneers, risk-takers, change-makers, and innovators.
